Meet Ronald!
Freedom Trails has one of the few Racewood Equestrian Simulator's in Canada. "Ronald" was funded by Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Our simulator has five speeds (walk to canter) offering a similar action of a live horse. Other features include:
Whether operated by the rider or the instructor, "Ronald" provides a horse-like experience but in the warmth and safety of a room with a view. A window provides the rider with a view of the riding arena outside. There's also an option to watch animal or instructional films on the flat screen while you exercise.
This simulator has benefits for people of all ages and riding levels. It is great for people who have never ridden before to help overcome their fear of riding and to introduce them to the different gaits of a horse. The simulator offers experienced riders the opportunity to practice their riding skills, posture and balance without being concerned how their horse is behaving. Physiotherapists refer riders to our simulator post injury. For riding instructors, the simulator offers a controlled environment to teach. Lessons can include and focus on riding skills, cross training, literacy games and exercises, support of students' classroom goals, emotional regulation, for a few. Riders may experience a sense of achievement and confidence, improvement in muscle tone, strength and balance, and a good workout!
Ronald lessons are available to Freedom Trails' riders and the general public. Gift certificates are available for purchase.
